The Real Cost of Fear of Failure in Business
Every founder I've worked with has 2 piles sitting in their head:
1 is full of stuff that flopped, the other is full of stuff that never got tried.
Guess which one keeps them up at night.
It's never the flop.
A launch that tanks still hands you something.
A number, a reason, a lesson you can use next time.
But the campaign/creative you never shipped?
The price increase you never tested?
The product you kept meaning to make but never did?
That one gives you nothing.
It just turns into a question that sits in the back of your head, forever.
Here's the math on it:
- Try it, and it works = You learn what to repeat.
- Try it, and it flops = You learn what to avoid.
- Never try it = You just wonder about it forever.
2 of those make you better at the job.
One just follows you around at 2am.
Failing costs you a rough quarter.
Never trying costs you the answer, permanently.
Those are not the same bill.
So if there's a launch, a price test, a hire, a pivot you've been sitting on, ask yourself honestly which pile you'd rather it end up in.
What's one thing you've been putting off trying?
Drop it below, might be the push you need.
