The Leadership Skill That Matters Most: Deciding Without Certainty

The role that built me most was the one I had no business taking.

And it set me up for life.

I stepped into an executive role at a D2C fashion brand that I didn't have any experience for.

Multiple people on the team had been doing their jobs for years.
The numbers were big, the stakes were high, and nobody was slowing down for me to catch up.

From the outside, I wasn't ready,
but that didn't stop me from taking the job.

So I started anyway. Ready or not.

Don't get me wrong, the first few months were not pretty.

I was making calls with half of the information.
But that's where it built me.

You don't learn to make a hard call by reading about it.
You learn by making them and adjusting when you get them wrong.

That job stretched me into someone I couldn't have become any other way.
And it shaped my career, my trajectory, and led me to where I am now.

What it gave me was the ability to decide when I didn't have everything I wanted.

That's still the muscle I lean on most.

The roles that build you don't usually feel like opportunities going in.

They feel like too much, too soon.
But they'll be the making of you.

Remember: If something is new and out of your comfort zone, you're probably never gonna feel ready.
